Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak → Voices → pick a language → download voices marked Enhanced or Premium. (On older iPhones the menu is called Spoken Content.)

System Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak → tap the small ⓘ next to System Voice → click a voice to download it. (On older Macs: Spoken Content → Manage Voices…)

Easiest: open this app in Microsoft Edge — its free "(Natural)" voices are excellent. Or: Settings → Time & Language → Speech → Add voices.

Good to know first: browsers on Android accept only 1 or 2 voices per language (English has the ✨ Studio AI voices, so it is always covered). Downloading more voices cannot raise that number — it is a browser rule, not this app. For scenes with many characters in Spanish or another language, a computer gives you more voices.

Where the voice settings live — Samsung: Settings → General management → scroll to the very bottom → tap Text-to-speech inside the blue "Looking for something else?" box. Other Android phones: Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech output.

Chrome includes built-in "Google" voices when you're online — nothing to install.

Tip: on a computer, download 3–4 voices per language so every character in your scene sounds different. Then fully close and reopen your browser.

Phone makers move these menus around every year. The paths above are correct as of July 2026 — if a menu is not where we say, open your phone's Settings and type "text-to-speech" in its search box.

Required format — the character's name in CAPITAL LETTERS, ALONE on its own line (no extra words after the name), with the dialogue on the line below.
